Finding Flow in EDM Production
How electronic music production became my creative outlet from my studio in Otley, and the tools and techniques I use to enter a flow state.
Crafting electronic soundscapes from my home studio in Otley — sound design, production techniques, and creative flow.
Music production started as a curiosity and became a passion. I was drawn to electronic music for its infinite possibilities — the ability to create entire worlds of sound from nothing more than software and imagination.
Producing from Otley might seem an unlikely base for electronic music, but there's something about making art in a quiet market town that sharpens your creativity. I'm largely self-taught, learning through experimentation, online tutorials, and the generous electronic music community.
My productions tend towards melodic, atmospheric territory — think melodic techno, progressive house, and ambient electronica. I'm drawn to tracks that tell a story through sound, building tension and release over time.
Living in Otley has deeply influenced my sound. Field recordings from the River Wharfe, the birdsong around Otley Chevin, and the textures of the Yorkshire landscape find their way into my music alongside synthesised elements. There's something uniquely inspiring about the contrast between the natural world outside and the digital world of production.
